Chelsea defeated Newcastle 3-2 in an entertaining Premier League match at St. James' Park on Saturday afternoon. The Blues took the lead through Jackson Palmer Mudryk in the first half, before Newcastle equalized through Allan Saint-Maximin. Reece James restored Chelsea's lead just before halftime, and added a third in the second half to seal the victory.
The win moves Chelsea three points clear at the top of the Premier League table, ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal. Newcastle remain in fourth place, two points behind Chelsea.
Chelsea manager Graham Potter was pleased with his team's performance, particularly in the second half.
"I thought we played very well in the second half," Potter said. "We controlled the game and created a lot of chances. We could have scored more goals, but I'm happy with the three points."
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe was disappointed with his team's performance, but praised Chelsea for their quality.
"We're disappointed with the result, but I thought Chelsea were very good today," Howe said. "They're a top team and they showed their quality. We need to learn from this and improve."
